This year on the Serbian side of the border has been caught for about 300 people, while the Hungarian border authorities have intercepted many more persons and, according to authorities, the main reason can be found in the relevant changes of legislation related to Hungary for asylum seekers.

The Head of the Border Police in Subotica Miroslav Janic told to reporters that according to the new regulations, if the person at the first "catch" ask for asylum, can obtain the necessary documents for asylum and freedom of movement throughout the territory of Hungary.

"Since Hungary is part of the European Union immigrants do not choose the means to cross the Serbian-Hungarian border because in this way they get the open path to the West since the EU has no boundaries. Practically, when they get around us and move there, they just need to apply for asylum and the way is open to them," he said.

Janic said that the new provision was not brought by the Hungarian border authorities, since they are aware of what it will bring to them and that these are decisions and commitments of the state.
