Centar za zaštitu i pomoć tražiocima azila (APC/CZA) poziva sve koji žele pruže direktnu podršku tražiocima azila i migrantima, doprinesu stvaranju tolerantnog i otvorenog društva i suzbijanju predrasuda i ksenofobije da se priključe mreži APC/CZA volontera.

Volonter može biti svako ko je punoletan, ima vremena i želje da pomogne ljudima u nevolji i nema predrasuda prema ljudima drugih nacija, vera ili rasa.

Verdict for smuggling Albanians across the Tisa

On April 14th, 2014 the Special Court in Belgrade has pronounced the verdict finding sentenced nine of the ten persons accused of smuggling the illegal immigrants, Albanians, from Kosovo and Metohija, over the Tisa River to Hungary on October 14th, 2009, when 15 illegal immigrants drowned in the accident.

Nine accused for criminal offenses of people smuggling and illegal crossing of the state border, were found guilty and sentenced to a total of 55 years in prison, and one was acquitted.

The Court pronounced the maximum sentence of ten years of imprisonment to the defendants Josip Djuraskovic and Sabehudin Arifi. The accused Goran Maravic was sentenced to a term of imprisonment of seven years, and Ridvan Destani was sentenced to six years and eight months. Dejan Bezeg was sentenced to six years. Defendant Ardin Iseni was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison, and Abedin Iseni to four years and four months. Atila Sipos was sentenced to three and a half years in prison and Jovanka Koledin to three-years, while Joso Karimovic was acquitted.

Attempt of smuggling the illegal Albanian immigrants, from Kosovo to Hungary across the Tisa River ended tragically when a boat sank and 15 immigrants drowned, among which was the most women and children, on October 14th, 2009. According to the indictment of the Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, illegal immigrants from Kosovo were first secretly transferred to Konculj, and then to Subotica, where they were hidden awaiting an opportune moment to be smuggled to Hungary over the Tisa River and border crossings Horgos and Kelebija.
