Zid na Marici
Tuesday, 21 February 2012 15:52

Monday, 21 November 2011 16:39
Objavljeno u dnevnom listu Politika dana 18.11.2011.

Nemiri u Libiji i dalje traju
Monday, 07 March 2011 15:36

EU upozorila Srbiju i Makedoniju
Wednesday, 17 November 2010 17:27

High Level of Police Achievements
Tuesday, 10 August 2010 09:14
At the very beginning of implementation of the new Asylum Law in April 2008, an Asylum Office was established as an organized unit of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia, which issues first instance decisions on asylum seekers’ applications. Although this is something new, and although the asylum procedure in our country is still in its developing stage, and there are some technical problems, officers of the Ministry of Interior demonstrated while carrying out their tasks in this field a high level of commitment to cooperation not only with UNHCR but with the Asylum Center as well. Read More Namely, in most cases asylum seekers upon their arrival to our country first come into contact with the police, and then with the Asylum Office representatives. According to our experience, the police officers act properly towards asylum seekers so far; only a few irregularities were registered, which were corrected in a short time. The fact that police officers were able to notice irregularities very quickly, which were most often of technical nature and rarely the result of inexperience or lack of knowledge, confirms that the Serbian Police is fully aware of its role in the asylum procedure and determined to build-up legally perfect procedure, followed by maximal respect of human rights of asylum seekers from the moment they enter our country to the very end of the asylum procedure.

However, as we have found out unofficially, there is a possibility, at the moment only theoretical, that the competition but on a modest scale will be held, this time in Czech Republic. But the news is not yet official.

Asylum Law Competition held in Budapest
Tuesday, 10 August 2010 08:37
Seventh Asylum Law Moot Court Competition organized by Hungarian Helsinki Committee and UNHCR was held on 12-15 April 2007 in Budapest. It was the first time that Serbian law students took part in this prestigious competition. Miss Maja Milenkovic and Mr Rados Djurovic were representatives of the Faculty of Law (Belgrade), and UNHCR Asylum Law Clinic.
Their great efforts and good performance in a stiff competition were crowned with success. They secured a good position, unfortunately not in the group of three best teams, but the success and the experience gained paved the way for new generations so that better places can be expected in the future.
